Privacy Policy

Noctly is a dream journal app made by David Martos, an independent developer ("I", "me", "we"). Your dreams are deeply personal, and I take that seriously. This policy explains what data Noctly collects, how it is used, and what choices you have.

1. What data Noctly collects

Dream journal entries. Everything you write or record in Noctly — dream text, voice memos, titles, tags, dates, and the AI-generated interpretations — is stored on your device and synced through your personal iCloud account. This data is not uploaded to any server I control.

Voice recordings. If you use the voice recording feature, audio is processed on-device using Apple's Speech framework. No audio is transmitted to external servers.

Purchase and subscription data. If you subscribe to Noctly Pro, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple via the App Store. I receive anonymous receipts to verify subscription status. I never see your payment details, name, or Apple ID.

Crash reports and diagnostics. If you have opted in to sharing analytics with Apple, crash logs and performance data may be shared with me through Apple's standard developer tools. This data does not include any journal content.

2. What data Noctly does NOT collect

• I do not collect your name, email address, or any account credentials.
• I do not run analytics SDKs or tracking libraries.
• I do not sell, share, or transfer any data to third parties.
• I do not use your dream content to train AI models.
• I do not have access to any of your journal data — it lives in your iCloud.

3. iCloud sync

Noctly uses iCloud (specifically CloudKit and iCloud Drive) to sync your data across your devices. Your data is stored under your own Apple ID and is governed by Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy. I do not have the ability to access or decrypt your iCloud data.

4. AI interpretation

Dream interpretations are generated on-device using Apple's on-device machine learning frameworks. No dream content is sent to any external AI service or API. Your dreams never leave your device for interpretation purposes.

5. Children's privacy

Noctly is not directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has shared data through Noctly, please contact me and I will address it promptly.

6. Your rights

Since all your journal data is stored in your own iCloud account, you have full control over it at all times. You can delete any or all entries directly within the app. Deleting the app removes all local data. Your iCloud data can be managed through your Apple ID settings.

7. Changes to this policy

If I make material changes to this privacy policy, I will update this page and change the effective date above. I may also notify you within the app.
